Dear Athlete,

 

It is with deep regret that the Committee at Hollingworth Lake Rowing Club must inform you that the English Indoor Rowing Championships (EIRC) will no longer be taking place this year.

 

This decision has not been taken lightly. We know many of you were looking forward to competing, had made plans to attend, and had been training hard for the event. 

 

We fully appreciate how disappointing this news will be, and we are genuinely sorry for the inconvenience and frustration this may cause.

Over recent months, we have explored every possible avenue to make the event viable. Unfortunately, despite the dedication and determination of our volunteer organising team, we have reached a point where it is no longer possible to deliver the event to the standard that athletes deserve.

 

In 2025, the event benefited from support from British Rowing as part of its initiative to encourage in-person indoor rowing events. That funding has not been available this year, and despite considerable efforts, we have also been unsuccessful in securing sponsorship to replace it. Combined with the significant reliance on volunteers to organise and deliver the event, these challenges mean that proceeding responsibly is no longer possible.

 

We know this news will be incredibly disappointing. Please be assured that this decision was only made after careful consideration of every available option. Our priority has always been to provide a safe, enjoyable and high-quality championship experience, and we do not believe we can achieve that under the current circumstances.

We would like to thank every athlete who entered, every club that supported the event, and everyone who offered their time to volunteer. Your enthusiasm and commitment to indoor rowing have been greatly appreciated.

All entry fees will be refunded in full. Further information on the refund process will be sent separately in the coming days.
